Recoloring.... makes me lol. 8D

because seriously. Just for fun, I searched "recolor", or something like that on youtube. It obviously came ot billions of videos of sonic recolors. Of Sonic X shots. Duh.
Honestly, I have nothing agaisnt that people use screenshots and then use a base of them to create their own character. Its a way to practice.
But... then it comes to originality. Its usually here it wants me to slap their face so hard---- but then again not, cuz it isnt my problem, really.
But...just dont they notice it really LOOKS like a green amy with long hair?
Just because you changed color and shit, you can still see its Amy, you know?
Just because you gave hher finger gloves, and a tshirt over her dress, some ribbons on her boots doesnt make her different.
To be honest, ive never recolored a screenshots. (my remixes are different, cuz it is still the original characters....just prettier XD check my youtube 8D [link] )
But I can understand that "everyone starts somewhere", but I can tell you this; just because you just started it doesnt mean you cant be original. Its just a lazy way to create characters.
Think about it. They CAN be something more than just a yellow/pink Shadow with boobs and boots. What is the character to you? Your alter ego? The closest thing to you? Your anger? Your way of showing love? What about personality? How is your character to others and yourself? What does your character represent? A cute girl who can be kind to anyone;besides those who create war? A dark guy who seems so strong and cold; but inside he just hates to see himself in the mirror, because it keeps on reminding of something that he held dear? A character CAN be more than just cute/sexy/dark/cool, if you put alot of thoughts and feelings into him/her! Maybe you should look for insperation? Think of amazing things you can combinate and make him/her really original? For example, Indian + Victorian lady = A dark skinned character with grayish-blonde hair, old fashioned dress with indian material? Or maybe Gangster + Angel = A guy with blonde hair, looking all innocent, white suit but having hell alot of guns and other weapons? The face has alot to do with your characters originality too. Maybe you should try to draw the face the way YOU like it?
You see? It IS not hard to be original, and people wont stop liking you/your art just because it is different. People fall for different stuff! Dare to do it!
Im not saying its not okay to use those Sonic X screenshots and create your own character out of it, in fact, as I said earlier, it might be a good practice. Its just; it IS awesome when you see a really original and different character. Just let you know that.
